Safety Must Always Come First

All companies, no matter what they make or what service they provide, look to be as efficient as possible. Keeping costs under control and maximizing efficiency are two key ways to make money and ensure continued growth. That is fine as long as any compromises being undertaken do not involve safety.

Safety is of paramount importance, not only for the company’s workers, but also any members of the public who may come into contact with the company and its services. Not looking after workers properly is just plain foolish; any money saved by cutting corners will certainly be lost following an accident and the subsequent reputation damage that occurs as a result.

For example, those employed by companies that restore old buildings must have public training for working at heights to ensure that they know how to do their jobs safely. The government has a program that ensures such safety training is carried out by company personnel who have the knowledge and background.

For example, Ontario employers with 20 or more workers must have an internal joint health and safety committee consisting of at least two people. One person must be a regular employee representing that part of the organization, while the other is a representative on behalf of management.

JHSC – Joint Health Safety Certification Part 1 is a program that provides the instruction for these individuals and is a course mandated by the provincial government. Those who graduate from JHSC 1 will be able to spot potential hazards and bring them to the attention of management. The subsequent changes will help to prevent any injuries that might occur on the premises while employees are going about their duties during the work week. These individuals can also educate fellow employees on how to detect any future hazards and report them.

How To Keep A Healthy Lifestyle

How do you keep a healthy lifestyle if you’re so accustomed to eating crap everyday?  It’s not easy switching from McDonald’s to salads everyday, and I’m not saying you have to.  There’s being healthy and there’s eating healthy.  Yes, the two go hand in hand, but you’re allowed to indulge yourself from time to time.  It’s hard work to keep a healthy lifestyle, but once you get used to it, it will just be living your life.

healthFirst thing about keeping a healthy lifestyle is eating right.  Eating right is about knowing what you’re putting into your body and what it does for your body.  For example, everyone thinks that carbs are bad and will make you fat.  However, it’s just the complete opposite!  Unlike the myth, carbohydrates aren’t just break and pasta.  It includes vegetables and grains also.  Your body needs carbohydrates to stay energized, and there are simple carbs and complex carbs.  You want to stick to complex carbs like vegetables, oats, and grains.  Simple carbs like sugar and flour are absorbed by your body’s digestive system really quickly.  This causes your body to bloat.  If you eat your complex carbs, you’ll be keeping your body energized and lean.

You also want to eat protein and lean meats.  These include chicken, fish, beans and nuts.  Protein will help you build muscle which helps you lose calories faster, making your body more slim and lean.  Eating healthy means knowing the difference between good and bad.  When we think of eating fats, our minds automatically go to think of fats of meats.  However, there are good fats and bad fats.  Good fats are high in fatty acids.  These include nuts, fish oil, and avocado.  The types of fats you want to avoid are trans fats and saturated fats.  If you have any nut allergies, make sure to always wear a medical ID bracelet or necklace.  Emergency Id makes custom, unique bracelets that will help people identify you if you have any allergies or illnesses.  It’s important to provide proper identification that’s visible to other in case anything happens.  Keeping your body healthy and safe is all a part of a healthy lifestyle.

Eating healthy doesn’t mean you can’t have those foods that you crave.  Everything in moderation is something you’ll learn to do.  You never want to over consume anything – even if it’s vegetables or fruits.  Appetite and portion control is something that will keep you from eating too much of anything.

Some great habits to include are drinking lots of water to keep your body hydrated, keep away from junk and fast food by not looking at it, and lowering your alcohol intake if you drink.  It’s definitely a mindset change that you’ll need to make.  Self control is a huge part of keeping a healthy lifestyle.  But trust me, once you do this for two weeks straight, it will become easier because all the sugar and salty foods you normally crave will slowly go away.  Then your taste buds won’t crave them as much and you won’t think about how much you want to eat chips or fries.  Just remember, if you have any allergies, wear a bracelet or necklace to keep track for emergency alert so others are aware when they serve you any type of food.

Changing your lifestyle will change many aspects of your life, but you’ll feel great after accomplishing it.

Lifestyle Changes That People Need To Make

We live in a world where eating burgers and pasta everyday is the norm.  However, are we really aware of what we’re eating?  Do we think about food before we eat it?  I’m 100% guilty of craving junk food sometimes and going out to buy a couple bags of chips.  Then immediately after or the next day, I feel bloated and sluggish.  Then I think this easily could have been prevented if I just took a second to think about what I was about to put into my body.  And then I look at my two extra bags of chips and wonder what I was going to do with those.  I’m obviously not going to throw them out, but if I leave them in the house there’s no doubt that I’ll engulf them in the next couple of days (hours even).

We as a society need to learn self control and how to suppress our appetite when we’re craving junk food.  They say it takes two weeks to get rid of a craving, but just two seconds to plunge back into a craving.  We work so hard to keep a healthy lifestyle, but as soon as there’s any type of temptation, we go weak in the knees and eventually go back to eating unhealthy.  How can we continue our streak of eating healthy and exercising?  Because it is 100% possible to live a healthy lifestyle while also letting yourself eat whatever you want once in a while.  Not to worry because I’m here to help.
